Jamile and Courtney's Wedding at
Fields of Blackberry Cove in
Asheville, North Carolina
Jamile and Courtney’s wedding at Fields of Blackberry Cove in Asheville was one of those days that puts things in perspective pretty quickly. This wasn’t about trends, timelines, or perfectly coordinated details. It was about two people who loved each other and wanted to get married with the people who mattered most around them.
Their wedding was made possible through the WNC Bridge Foundation. Courtney had received a heart transplant ten years earlier, but as her health began to decline again, she had one clear wish. She wanted to marry Jamile before beginning hospice care.
What took place at Fields of Blackberry Cove was emotional, honest, and incredibly meaningful. As you scroll through their gallery, you'll see there were tears, plenty of laughter, and moments where you could feel how much love was in the space.

Jamile and Courtney’s wedding at Fields of Blackberry Cove in Asheville is one we’ll carry with us for a long time.
Ten years before this day, Courtney received a life saving heart transplant. That gift gave her another decade with her family, her friends, and eventually Jamile. When her health began to decline again and doctors shared that her heart was failing, one thing became very clear to her. She wanted to marry Jamile before beginning hospice care.

With the help of the WNC Bridge Foundation, that wish became possible. The wedding came together quickly, but it never felt rushed. If anything, it felt focused. Everyone there understood this day mattered in a deeper way. It wasn’t just a celebration. It was a promise being made in front of the people who loved them most.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was the presence of the heart donor’s mother. Over the years she had built a relationship with Courtney’s family, knowing that her own child’s heart had continued to give life long after loss. Seeing her there, witnessing the wedding, carried a kind of emotion that’s hard to describe. Grief and gratitude were both present, and neither canceled the other out.

Fields of Blackberry Cove offered a quiet, beautiful setting for the ceremony, tucked into the mountains around Asheville. But what made the day unforgettable wasn’t just the venue. It was the range of emotion in the room. There were tears, plenty of laughter, quiet hugs, and moments where everyone seemed to pause and take it in.
Jamile and Courtney’s wedding was a reminder of something we see from time to time and never take lightly. Even during difficult seasons, joy still finds its way in.
