I have known Hunter since fourth grade, and we even roomed together in college, which is where he met Katelyn. Being the one to photograph and film their wedding at The Biltmore Estate was not just an honor, it felt full circle. First, there is the venue itself. The Biltmore Estate is one of the most recognizable wedding venues in Asheville and all of Western North Carolina. The architecture, the mountain backdrop, the scale of the property, it all creates a setting that feels timeless and elevated. It is the kind of place that makes a wedding day feel significant from the moment guests arrive.
But what made this wedding unforgettable for us had nothing to do with square footage or views.
I have known Hunter since fourth grade. We grew up together. We roomed together in college. That is also where he met Katelyn, and watching their relationship grow over the years has been such a gift. Getting to step into their wedding day not just as a vendor, but as a longtime friend, made everything more meaningful.
They were intentional about including their people in the day. Dakota Blakely officiated their ceremony. Sound Explosion kept the dance floor alive. Maya Christine created a live painting during the celebration. The bride’s jewelry was handmade by Haleigh Maede. Here is the fun part. The officiant, myself, the DJ, and the jewelry designer all went to high school together. In many ways, their wedding at The Biltmore Estate felt like a reunion wrapped inside an incredible Asheville celebration.
Hunter and Katelyn are the kind of couple who make you feel instantly welcome. Their day was full of laughter, tight hugs, and friends who genuinely love being around each other. Being trusted to document such an important moment for people you have known for decades is something we never take lightly.
